The spectacular scenery of the Lares Valley a remote and rarely visited region offer to the adventure people a real lives of the Andean farmers, dressed in their traditional colored customs specially the ponchos, we will see several thatched stone houses surrounded by herds of llamas and alpacas, small villages of shepherds and weavers in the highland, the trek is moderate class, the trek combines spectacular scenery with glacier mountains like Pitusiray and Sahuasiray, glacier lakes

GROUP SIZE

an authentic quechua speaking communities, Along the trek we will crossing two high passes (Abra), fist one Pachacutec Pass (4,400m./14,450ft.)  and the second one Willkiqasa Pass (4,100m./13,500ft.) the trek start at Huaran village in the Sacred Valley of the Inkas, and we will finish at Lares District and we will enjoy  the  Natural Hot Spring  swing pools in our last campsite.

DETAILED ITINERARY

DAY 1:  CUSCO – HUARAN – CANCHA CANCHA.

We leave Cusco city early during the morning on a privite bus or van toward the Huaran Village, the trailhead  then we will hike uphill  gradually, the camp gear and personal equipment will be carried by horses. Lunch on the way, the scenery of this fist portion  is with lush vegetation, then we arrive to Cancha Cancha small village with few population of farmers, campsite with spectacular scenery.

DAY 2:  CANCHA CANCHA – PACHACUTEC PASS – QUISHUARANI.

We leave campsite and we will hike  uphill gradually toward the fist pass named Pachacutec (4,400m./14,450ft.), around to the pass we can enjoy amazing and spectacular views glacier mountains of Pitusiray (5,200m./17,050ft.), Sahuasiray (5,050m./16,500ft.), then we will descend toward to Quishuarani  small village, campsite by the village.

DAY 3:   QUISHUARANI – WILLKIQASA – CUNCANI.

Again the trail leads uphill  toward the second and the last pass of Willkiqasa (4,100m./13,500ft.) just under the pass is located a nice lake named Queullaqocha from the pass another spectacular views at the both sides of the pass, then we will descend to our campsite located at Cuncani  village  with farming fields  regular quantity of population, after the pass all the way downhill.

DAY 4:  CUNCANI – TRAPICHE – LARES – CUSCO.

Last day hike downhill along to the rich valley of Cuncani and Huacawasi, glacier water for irrigation system  along the valley several kind of crops  such as potatoes, beans, peas, corn, flowers, etc .we will arrive for lunch to Lares District and the main attraction is the Natural Hot Springs, here we can enjoy the swing pools before to catch our bus or van back to Cusco city.

WHAT TO BRING

  • A sleeping bag (if not, you can rent at the office for USD 30 all trip).

  • A backpack (50 or 70 liters).

  • Hiking boots, sneakers and shoes.

  • Long pants and shorts.

  • Long sleeved shirts and T-shirts.

  • Warm clothes sweaters, jacket and fleece.

  • Rains wear.

  • Camera, films, batteries.

  • Flashlight and batteries.

  • Insect repellent and sun block.

  • Personal toilet items and first aid kit.

  • A pocketknife.

  • A water bottle and purified pills.

  • A change of underwear.

  • Hat or cap to protect from the sun, rain or cold.

  • A pack towel.

  • Snacks:  Energy bars, chocolate, biscuits, dry fruits etc.

  • Cash USD and local currency (no option for ATM machines)

  • Swimsuit (optional hot springs visit)

  • Walking sticks with rubber covers (optional).

INCLUDED DURING THE TREK

  • Pick up from several hotels all the members, then transfer by bus to Cusco – Finaya Village (trailhead).

  • A large igloo tents, for each 2 persons.

  • Mattress, one per person.

  • Kitchen tent.

  • Dining tent.

  • Enough tables and chairs.

  • Toilet tent.

  • English speaking professional tour guide.

  • An expert cook.

  • Wranglers and horses

  • Full meals during the trek.

  • Daily snack bag.
