The classic hike is one of the world´s  most popular treks. This 4 day hike walk goes from the highlands of 4,200 m.(13,900 ft.) through the cloud forest before arriving at Machupicchu  2,400 m. (7,800 ft.) the camp site is with striking views of the High Andes and dense jungle, the last  day hike, after crossing two high passes arrive at Sun Gate (intipunku) where we have the fist view of Machu Picchu.

DETAILED ITINERARY

DAY 1 : Cusco - Huayllabamba

Transfer from your hotel to the trailhead at KLM. 82. (PISQACCUCHO) by private bus to meet the Quechua porters  whose transport our camp gear, we just walk carrying light packs. Hike along the vilcanota river with a panoramic view of Veronica Mountain 5,900 m. (19,000 ft.). Explore Llacta Pata Incan city and continue to the CAMPSITE HUAYLLABAMBA  village  3,000 m. (9,850 ft.).

DAY 2 : Huayllabamba - Pacaymayo

From huayllabamba climb to the highest part of our journey, finally after gradual uphill hike we reach Warmiwañuska pass 4,200 m. ( 13,900 ft.) where we have the panoramic view of Huayanay mountains and the Vilcabamba range. Then descend to the CAMPSITE PACAYMAYO RIVER 3.350 m. (10,990 ft.).

DAY 3 : Pacaymayo - Wiñayhuayna

From Pacaymayo climb again to the second pass, after to explore the Runkuraqay ruins 3,700 m. (12,150 ft.), we climb the last portion and we reach the RUNKURAQQAY pass 4,000 m. (13,000 ft.), after  we descend to explore  Sayacmarca ruins then continue to PHUYUPATAMARCA Incan site  3,500 m. ( 11,450 ft.) with magnificent view of Vilcabamba range with the highest  peaks  of Salcantay  6,275 m. (20,580, ft.), Pumasillo etc. the Vilcanota river and  after to explore Phuyupatamarca  descend stairs downhill into the exotic cloud forest to our LAST CAMP SITE  WIÑAYHUAYNA 3,000 m. (9.800 ft.).Later explore to Wiñayhuayna Incan Site.

DAY 4  : Wiñayhuayna - Machupicchu - Cusco

Early wake up call, easy morning walk to the Gate of the Sun (INTIPUNKU), first view of MACHUPICCHU INCA CITY, descend  the last portion of hike, later on guided tour of the “Lost City of the Incas”, after to explore Machupicchu  bus ride to Machupicchu town (AGUAS CALIENTES), late afternoon return to Cusco by train.

 

WHAT TO BRING

  • A sleeping bag.

  • A backpack (50 or 70 liters).

  • Hiking boots, sneakers and shoes.

  • Long pants and shorts.

  • Long sleeved shirts and T-shirts.

  • Warm clothes sweaters, jacket and fleece.

  • Rains wear.

  • Camera, films, batteries.

  • Flashlight and batteries.

  • Insect repellent and sun block.

  • Personal toilet items and first aid kit.

  • A pocketknife.

  • A water bottle and purified pills.

  • A change of underwear.

  • Hat or cap to protect from the sun, rain or cold.

  • A pack towel.

  • Snacks:  Energy bars, chocolate, biscuits, dry fruits etc.

  • Cash USD and local currency, no option for ATM machines.

  • Swimsuit (optional hot springs visit).

  • Walking sticks with rubber covers (optional).

INCLUDED DURING THE TREK

  • Pick up from several hotels all the members, then transfer by bus to klm.82 (trail head)

  • Entrance Fee, Inca Trail and Machupicchu.

  • A large igloo tent, for each 2 persons.

  • Mattress, one per person.

  • Kitchen tent.

  • Dining tent.

  • Enough tables and chairs.

  • Toilet tent (in case campsite don’t have toilets).

  • English speaking professional tour guide (over 8 members, 2 guides).

  • An expert cook.

  • Porters (only to carry tent, food and cooking equipment)

  • Train Ticket (Backpacker train from Machu picchu to Cusco.

  • Full meals during the trek.

  • Daily snack bag.

  • Daily afternoon tea service.

  • Daily morning boiled and cold water to fill the water bottles.

  • Bus Ticket from Machu picchu Inca city to Machu picchu town or well know as Aguas Calientes.

  • Tips to the crew (guides, cooks and porters).

OPTIONAL SERVICES

  • Sleeping Bag, Rental sleeping bag should be requested in advance, charge is $ 30

  • Extra porter for your personal equipment, charge is $ 30 per person (one porter for two persons)

  • Single Tent, if you prefer to have guaranteed single tent the charge is $ 30

  • Hotel booking service for extra night in Aguas Calientes, additional charge depending hotel category.

  • First Class Train from Machupicchu (Vistadome) Additional charge instead of Backpacker  USD. 25.00.

IMPORTANT NOTICE: According to the new Inca Trail regulations, The Machu Picchu Sanctuary authorities allow only 500 people to enter to Inca Trail every day including Cooks, porters, Guides. Each one who enter that day needs to be listed on a permit form, provided by the park authorities in advance. Booking will be only guaranteed  if you reconfirm your trip, providing Full names, Nationalities and passport numbers. (all those information will be how appear in your passport), Students required for Entrance Fee  discount the Valid (no Expired) International Student Card (ISC) and must be under 26 year of age. (We required via e-mail the copy of valid ISC).
